MASSIFY, NEW ONLINE FILM PRODUCTION COMMUNITY, LAUNCHES

NEW NET PROVIDES FILMMAKERS AND ACTORS THE TOOLS TO COLLABORATE AND MAKE THE FILMS THEY WANT

Site partners with After Dark Films to find and produce the next generation of horror: Feature Film to be created and cast on-site.

New York, NY - February 11, 2008 - Massify has just launched with an opportunity for upcoming filmmakers to develop and cast a feature film through its production network. The site is the first ever "film production network," a gathering place for film creatives of all kinds that provides digital tools, a place to collaborate, and funding to help upcoming filmmakers work together and make movies.

For its launch, Massify is partnering with After Dark Films to create the "Ghosts in the Machine" contest. Site members have the opportunity to "pitch" their ideal horror movie and be a producer on the final film. The Massify community will then vote in a series of laddered rounds on their favorite pitch - which will be produced and released as part of Horror Fest 2008. By giving anybody a shot to pitch their idea and using a veteran team to make the movie, Massify is marrying new methods of ideation with established methods of film production.

Aspiring actors have the chance to launch their careers, as well. Actors can upload video "auditions" for principal roles in the final film and will be given the opportunity to participate in a professional screen test - with the final cast again being voted on by the Massify community.

"We're using the power of the net to open the world of film to fresh voices," said Kenneth Woo, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer. "Filmmakers and actors who are just starting out face numerous barriers to entry - everything from finding people to work with to communicating with their teams. We're looking to eliminate those inefficiencies, and give our audience the tools and opportunities to make the films they want."

While the site is launching with the Ghosts in the Machine contest, Massify's core functionality is a suite of tools to help filmmakers, actors, and enthusiasts connect, collaborate, and create the movies they want. The site functions as a social network for all aspiring film creatives - from filmmakers to editors to gaffers to actors - to come together around projects. In the coming months, the site will roll out communication and planning tools that will help bring these projects to fruition.

The final film will be produced in association with Craig Singer and Chris Williams of Fanlib.com.

Some of Massify's core features include:

  • Production Tools: Massify is providing filmmakers the tools to work together. While Hollywood producers can rely on a small army of PAs, filmmakers who are just starting out face the logistical nightmare of the "production book." Massify is giving them the digital tools to manage their casting process, slot in crew, host assets, and communicate with their teams.
  • Collaborative Filmmaking: The great Hollywood tradition of pitching lets a dreamer walk into a meeting with nothing but an idea, and walk out a moviemaker. Massify is bringing that concept to the web through its "pitch" tool. Users can enter their raw movie ideas and either enter them into contests, or, working with the Massify community, evolve them into fully-fledged films.
  • Professional Network: Massify is creating one place for film professionals of all types - from directors to actors to editors to sound designers - to come together. Filmmakers can find others in their community who share their interests - or even have a necessary piece of equipment - to work together.
  • Industry Access: Massify is working with story editors, agents, and casting directors to make sure that industry professionals are looking at the best content on the site - giving its users another opportunity to break out.

About Massify.com

Founded by Brett Icahn and Kenneth Woo, Massify is the internet's first production network - a production company combined with a social network. It connects users with other aspiring film creatives and then gives them the tools and the funding to actually film their vision. Everyone is a stakeholder in this purpose-driven community. In addition to this contest, and other contests in the future, massify.com will offer and continue to develop an entire suite of production and self-promotion tools for actors, producers, directors, actors, crew members, etc. Massify believes that by organizing contests such as Ghosts in the Machine on a regular basis and by offering online tools designed specifically to address inefficiencies in the industry, the site will nurture and grow a talented and ambitious creative community, the members of which will in turn leverage massify.com to organize and launch their own projects.
