After Dark Films

Mr. Solomon is a Partner and the principal innovator behind After Dark Films. He began his career at the age of six years old working on the set of a popular Canadian television show during the summer months. Having spent much time working in the industry, Mr. Solomon chose to pursue his love of film by founding Sweetpea Entertainment in January 1991. It was at this time that Mr. Solomon began his odyssey to acquire, finance, produce and direct the first live action motion picture based on the world famous Dungeons and Dragons game and trademark. The film, including DVD sell-through, grossed over $300 Million worldwide.From 2004-2005, Mr. Solomon wrote, produced, directed and financed the motion picture An American Haunting starring Donald Sutherland and Academy Award Winner Sissy Spacek. The film was produced for $13.5 million as a co-production between the UK, Canada and Romania. An American Haunting opened #2 in the nation and stayed on top for four weeks.

Moving from production to distribution in 2006, Mr. Solomon began a new partnership with longtime business partner, Allan Zeman, establishing the genre film label After Dark Films. Now a leader in theatrical independent film finance, production and acquisitions of genre films for theatrical release, the company enjoys an output deal with Lionsgate. After Dark is perhaps best known for its creation and execution of Horrorfest - 8 Films to Die For, a one week national film festival that celebrates all aspects of the horror genre. In its first year, Horrorfest became the first film festival in history to break into the Top 10 at the national box office, grossing over $2.5 million dollars. Courtney Solomon also helms ADF's sister company Autonomous Fims, which focuses on star-driven, commercial features across virtually all genres.

Acting coach

Mr. Swanson began working as an actor in New York City, starring in the NBC soap opera Sommerset for two years. While on that show he met with the famed acting teacher and father of "The Method" , Lee Strasberg. Gary studied with Strasberg both privately and at the Actors Studio after auditioning and becoming one of the very few life time members accepted into the elite acting company. Gary worked continuously with Strasberg for the next eight years while building his career as a working actor in New York and Los Angeles. Some may remember him as "The Irish Spring Man" or the "Foster Grant" man. He has starred in and guest starred in numerous feature films and worked with some of the greatest directors in the world — Arthur Hiller, Willaim Friedkin, Peter Masterson, Nicolas Roeg, Dr. Vincent Privitara and most recently with Philip Noyce on "The Bone Collector" starring Danzel Washington and Angelina Jolie.

In 1994 James Lipton and the esteemed executive committee of the Actors Studio - Paul Newman, Norman Mailer, Ellen Burstyn, Estell Parsons, Arthur Penn - asked Gary to be one of the first of four teachers to start the masters program at the New School of Social Research. He taught that masters program for three years - know on the Bravo Channel as "Inside The Actors Studio" studio hosted by James Lipton. Gary also coaches many well known actors - Lainie Kazan (star of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding") Mary Stuart Masterson, Tuesday Weld and Valeri Perrine.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Mr. Singer's first feature film was "Animal Room," a post-apocalyptic coming-of-age story starring Neil Patrick Harris, Matthew Lillard, and Amanda Peet.

Singer's second feature, "A Good Night to Die," stars Michael Rapaport, Deborah Harry, Ralph Macchio, and Ally Sheedy. A gritty, urban fable that chronicles a day in the lives of two hit men, the film showed at the Cannes Film Festival and premiered at the 2003 Tribeca Film Festival. It was released in July 2003 by DEJ Films and Fox Home Entertainment.

After "Good Night," Singer helmed the powerful crime-drama "Dead Dogs Lie" featuring Tommy Flanagan and Peter Greene. "Dead Dogs Lie" won several awards on the film festival circuit, including Best Feature Film at The Atlantic City Film Festival and The Phoenix Film Festival.

Most recently, Singer completed "Dark Ride," a no-holds-barred horror film starring Jamie-Lynn Sigler of "The Sopranos." Co-authored and directed by Singer, the feature was distributed theatrically Nationwide by Lionsgate Entertainment and After Dark Films in November of 2006.
