OPAL

Hounded by skeptics over her claim to have written a best selling book when she was only six, young Opal Whiteley journeys by steamer to England. En route, Opal is befriended by a little girl whose parents become fearful that Opal's nature stories will be a bad influence. As the steamer crosses the Atlantic, Opal relates a number of stories from her childhood in the lumber camps of Oregon. The stories reflect not only Opals unique relationship with the animals and birds of her childhood home but the problems this created with "The Mamma," who longed for Opal to be "normal," like other girls.
