Trials in the Forest

Spencer is a good kid who chooses to believe that money is the ultimate measure of success and happiness. What he comes to realize is that his relationship with his family is worth more than anything he could ever buy.

Spencer grew up in a modest home with his father, Joe, and big sister, Megan. Joe was a small town mechanic who worked long, hard hours for little money. Spencer would sit by the side of the road and watch the rich boys from a nearby boarding school take joy rides in fancy cars. He swore that one day he'd make his fortune in the big city.

Megan is a protective older sister. She has made it her mission in life to take care of Spencer ever since their mother died. She was always trying to make life with their father a little easier on both of them. She represents safety, stability, and conscience. It's important to note that she remains about 14 years old throughout the video, even though Spencer's age may change.

The main motif of this story is a forest. It represents obstacles, uncertainty, danger, and fear. Spencer finds himself running through a forest at different stages in his life. It is a metaphor for the way he lives and the choices he makes. Sometimes, he can't see the forest for the trees and looses sight of what's important.

LVD are established as the narrators of Spencer's story. They appear in black and white throughout the video to set them apart. They are like ghosts in the forest, as they are ignored by the other characters. They are set up to play in a small clearing among the trees. Lucas Field, at times, is shown gliding between trees as he sings. NOTE: There are no storyboards depicting this description, but IT IS PART OF THE PITCH.

The video is a journey through key moments in Spencer's life. As he runs away from family, he runs into his own ruin. He is eventually rescued by Megan, his guardian angel and given a second chance at the moment in time of his main turning point. It is a heart warming story with twists and turns that shines a light on temptations, ambitions, and the magic that can only come from the love of family.
