I have a broad background in the arts, as early in life I started painting and from there I developed an strong attraction for acting so in my teen years I went to a theater school in Rio de Janeiro, where I became part of a theater group that was the incubator for a new wave of talented young actors.
In Rio de Janeiro, besides the acting school and acting gigs, I started painting sets for theater plays and eventually TV commercials.
I work painting floats for the famous Rio Carnival parade where during Rio Carnival. After years working as an actor and set painter, I decided to move to New York in 1989 to study theater, cinema and photography. I studied acting at the Actors Conservatory (www.actorsconservatory.org) under the direction of Elaine Aiken and Lily Lodge. Concurrently, I studied film production at Film Video Arts, but also I worked as an assistant to several photographers, cinematographers and directors working on dozens upon dozens of music videos and TV commercials.
I studied photography at International Center of Photography (ICP) in NYC and worked as an assistant professor at the school and as a studio manager and first assistant to fashion photographer Jean-Claude Maillard.
In 1999 after ten years in NYC, I moved back to Rio de Janeiro where I taught photography at University Estacio de Sa, and was a partner at TV commercial production company Liquid Films where I produced and directed TV spots.
In 2001, my wife who is an American living with me in Rio, got a job offer to work in the Los Angeles as a reporter and we decided that it was a great opportunity to move to LA. After couple of years working in film production I landed a job in the film distribution business, where I worked until 2009 when we decided to move back to New York where I am now living with my family.
