Bio

My name is Adam Blasucci. I am 30 years old and have Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. It is a progressive muscle weakening disease. I've used a wheelchair since the age of six. My disease has progressed to the point where I must use a ventilator 24 hours a day and I need 24 hours of nursing care. Hell On Wheels is my first film project. It is a dramatization of some negative experiences I've had. Now let me tell you a little bit about my background. I'm originally from Long Island, N. Y. I moved to South Jersey with my parents and my brother in 1981. I am a high school graduate and attended some college courses. My interests were mostly in liberal arts. Some of the classes I took were Introduction to Music, Introduction to Art, American Cinema and Introduction to Theater.
I am a film critic and entertainment reporter for an Internet lifestyle magazine for young disabled adults called Audacity (audacitymagazine.com).
I love film, Ever since I was a child playing with my G.I. Joe and Star Wars action figures, I have dreamed of making my own films. I finally got a chance to make my lifelong dream come true. My intention with this project was to put my feelings and thoughts about being disabled on film. With this film I can shine some light on the indignities and prejudices the disabled community faced every day. Maybe the audience will walk away from this film understanding that we are just like you.
