Begonya Plaza grew up between Euskadi in northern Spain, Colombia and the United States. Inspired by the film "Two Women" acted at the age of nine in the Hollywood Independent film "Big Sister". Attended the three-year theater program at Los Angeles Theater Academy, and shortly after worked with Walter Hill in 48 HRS. Studied acting with Geraldine Page, Michael Howard, Bill Hickey and Herbert Berghoff, Dance with Alvin Ailey, voice with Graham Bernard.

Has been directed by Clint Eastwood, Michael Mann, Amy Jones, Oliver Stone, Tim Hunter and on stage, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Austrian director Kurt Palm. Begonya has acted opposite Robert De Niro, Tom Cruise, Willem Dafoe, Klaus Kinski and Carrol O'Connor, and was the lead female in the CBS television series, Dark Justice, shot on location in Barcelona.

Studied screenwriting at the AFI and UCLA extensions, with Robert McKee, and playwriting with Benable Herndon at NYU.

AS WRITER / FILMMAKER:

"A Wild World" is a three-character play about religion, politics and unconditional love. INTAR and artistic director, Eddie Machado are producing a backers reading for a 2009 Off-Broadway run.

"American Hero" is a short film about an Iraqi vet with PTSD. It is a sister / brother relationship of redemption and struggle for truth.

"The Persistence of Memory" is a screenplay about one-year in the life of Salvador Dali and his lascivious wife, Gala, seen from the eyes of a young lover through New York, the Mediterranean and Rome. Actress, Glenn Close is demonstrated interest with a letter of intent.

"Souvenir Views" is a 24-minute documentary shot in New York and Barcelona with English/Spanish subtitles, about a young man's self-imposed rite of passage journey influenced by the Situationist Movement. Premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, Havana Festival in Cuba, and aired nationally on the Independent Film Channel.

"Passion Flower of Spain" is a One-Woman play script in development about the Communist leader, Dolores Ibarruri, symbol of resistance against the fascist repression during the Spanish Civil War.

"Gernika Lives" is a 40-minute documentary exploring Begonya's Basque heritage and the tragic events that her father as a young boy experienced during the bombing in Guernica.
