David Lavine is an actor and writer, or a writer and actor.
SCREENS: David’s feature-length screenplay THE UNCONJOINED was a Scriptapalooza Quarterfinalist. His continuing collaboration with filmmaker Cyril Guyot includes THE MAKING OF VERY HOLLYWOOD MICHAEL KORS and TO MYSELF, a short film for Prada’s Infusion d’Homme. He has co-written for the web series THE SUZY & DUDDY SHOW and the public health series HIV IS STILL A BIG DEAL.
STAGES: Lavine has had two dozen or so productions in New York and regionally (CA, NJ, PA, OH, FL) since 1995. Venues include Fleetwood Stage, Intar, New Jersey Rep, Chashama, Shetler Studio’s Theatre 54, Little Fish Theatre Co., Actors Workout Studio, Kimball Studio Theatre, and both the New York and Columbus Fringe Festivals. Recognition: THE OCEAN ALL AROUND US, semifinalist, 2010 Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights Conference; POKING KITTY PURPLE, finalist, 2008 O’Neill; SMUGGLERS THREE, Heidi Award for Best Original Short, The Other Paper.
PUBLICATION: "4 Plays by David Lavine," a collection of one-acts published by Original Works. Two monologues included in Smith and Kraus’s "The Ultimate Audition Book, Vol. 4: 222 Comedy Monologues 2 Minutes & Under."
ACTING, TOO: Recent film work includes Ang Lee’s TAKING WOODSTOCK and LIFE IN FLIGHT with Patrick Wilson; TV credits include MERCY, CUPID, and a LAW & ORDER episode directed by Mario Van Peebles. David was in the Peccadillo Theater Company’s acclaimed 2005 Off Broadway production of COUNSELLOR-AT-LAW with John Rubinstein which won the Obie Award for Direction and two Lucille Lortel Awards including Outstanding Revival. Other stage credits include Walnut Street Theater, Philadelphia Shakespeare in the Park, Gretna Theatre, New Jersey Rep, Fleetwood Stage, HERE, and La MaMa. SAG, AEA, AFTRA.
