Feels weird talking about myself, but here it goes....
I have always been a lifelong student of the arts. I studied Fine Arts and Graphic design at Southeastern University in the early 90’s. Leaving school I became Co-Owner/Operator of the graphic design company “Godlike Productions” specializing in print art. Later I created “Red Ball Graphics”, specializing in music video and short film.
This was probably the most rewarding job I ever had. I had total control. Concepts, directing, filming, editing. Not to mention shooting live footage at concerts and working with talented musicians (its always a blast!).
I produced videos for bands such as Set Strangle, Centerpoint, Finger Cuff and Kriminal Damage. Also producing two Rocumentary shorts ; Lowriders and A night with the band.
It was at this time I joined I.A.T.S.E. (International Alliance of Theater and Stage Engineers), to pursue feature filmmaking.
Soon I became a Lead Greensman, developing and creating sets in studio (sound stages) and on location.
I was getting to work all the trenches. One day, being the lowest man there (It would seem like) and the next day the director and I are spending all day together planning how we will shoot the days scenes and drinking lattes. I got to do it all.
It was all during this time I was able to work closely with some of today’s top talent including, Director, Writer Steve Zaillian (Schindlers List, All the Kings Men), Director, Writer Paul Wietz (Cirque du Freak, American Pie, Producer Michael Haussmann, Director Andrew Davis(The Guardian), Writer, Director Daniel Myrick(Blair Witch Project & Solstice), Director, Fred Durst, Producer, Actor Ice Cube, D.P. James Michael “Jimmy” Muro, Director Tom Dey (Failure to Launch), Writer, Directors Hayden Schlossberg and Jon Hurwitz (Harold and Kumar 2), Producer Carston Lorenz, Production Designer & Academy board member Charles Breen. And actors such as Sean Penn, James Gandolphini, Nick Cage, Kevin Costner, Anthony Hopkins, Aston Kutcher, Jude Law, James Carvel, Salma Hayek, , Willem Dafoe…. This list will be far too long…
But the long story being short, I consider this that time I put in as a rite of passage. I was getting my hands on, getting dirty and doing what I had to. All to be a part of filmmaking. I loved it! I lived on and off set, working tightly with production and all the other crews. This time made me realize that contruction and art department was not where I wanted to be. Where I wanted to be was behind the camera. Guiding the story. Directing.
Ive alway had a creative eye and a level head.
I am a writer Director.
I recently phased out the construction side of the industry to pursue this passion.
The unfortunate part of my story is Hurricane Katrina. The stresses from lack of film work due to Hurricane Katrina put a hurting on the industry in South Louisiana but i am happy to say that Hollywood south is coming back nicely. Its gonna be a good next year.
I have written several highly regarded screenplays to date including “Road to Nowhere” and “Moment in Time” I have recently been hired to Adapt "Hopes Path" a novel by Sunny Robichaux to screenplay. And have started a new screenplay called THE ISLAND. (Working title)Thank you for taking the time to check out my bio, if you like, check out my screenplay "Road to Nowhere" which is available for viewing on this site.
