Bio
Douglas Reiser was born in Jersey City, New jersey on November 22nd, 1972. It wasn't until his junior year in high school, at the age of 16, that he discovered acting. After appearing in three musicals at a neighboring high school, he found his passion in acting by performing on stage. Doug went on to attend New York University in 1990 where he majored in drama. While in acting school, Doug studied at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and graduating (1994) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. After taking a year off to travel in Europe, Doug began his career (1995) in New York City appearing as an under-5 on television in soaps such as All My Children and Guiding Light.
In 1997, he was cast as The Burly Student, in "Mr. Jealousy", and acted in a scene with Eric Stoltz. That same year he acted and co-produced, Joe Orton's "Loot" and Mary Gallagher's "Little Bird" at the Pantheon Theatre Company on 42nd Street, with his DDR Productions Company, a company he formed with his brother Dan. In 1998, he was cast as Bobby Stricks, in the film "Three Below Zero, doing a scene with Wes Bentley. That same year, Doug booked two voice-over spots for radio and televeision (McDonald's and Physique) and was cast as, The Hero, in a Pizza Hut commercial.
In fall of 1998, Doug decided to move to Los Angeles, and nine months later, was cast as a lead in Tobe Hooper's "Crocodile" (1999). That same year he appeared onstage at the Globe Theater in West Hollywood in a play called "Party Circuit" , as the character Doug. He co-starred in a short film "Wanted...Soulful Energy Exchange" (2002), starring Gary Dourdan (C.S.I). Summer of 2001, Doug executive produced a short film titled "A Pena du Pana, starring Vincent Schiavelli ("Ghost", "People vs Larry Flynt"). In November of 2001, Doug moves back to New York. In 2002 , he produced two plays, David Rabe's "Hurlyburly" and George Walker's "Criminal Genius", with his brother and their DDR Productions company at The Mint Space on 43rd Street. He is cast as the lead actor in a short film titled "Drake's Cake", playing the nerdy office-mate, Drake and his alter ego, a film noir, private-eye guy named Frank. It won best short at the 2003: Midnight Moviemaking Madness Film Festival. He also acted as the lead character, Spare Change, in another short film titled "Spare Me: The Diary of Spare Change". This film finished in a respectful second at the 2004: Midnight Moviemaking Madness Film Festival. Thatsame year, Doug worked in the sponsorship department at the Tribeca Film Festival for two consecutive years from 2003-2004. In 2006, Doug formed his own company film production called High-Reiser Productions, focusing primarily on film.
