  • Bio

Jasmine is a Puerto Rican lesbian born and raised in the Bronx by immigrant parents. In 2003, she graduated from Borough of Manhattan Community College with an A.A.S degree in Corporate Communications. After graduating Jasmine decided to attend the City College of New York (CCNY) to obtain her BFA in Film and Video Production. While at CCNY she began production of STRUGGLE, a work-in progress documentary about dealing with her own mother dying of Scleroderma. She wrote and directed three student shorts while attending City College. Her film EL CUCO was recently awarded "Best Experimental Short" at the 2007 REEL SISTERS FILM FESTIVAL.

Jasmine's activism lead her to Chica Luna Productions as an intern and became a place where she began to further develop her editing skills. Jasmine has also worked with the Queen Museum of Art in a program called Leadership Through the Arts through Video as a production facilitator. As a facilitator, she taught students the fundamentals of video pre-production, production and post-production for documentary and narrative filmmaking. She has also been an Assistant Editor for Swandive Films for a television talks show series called EN LA ESCENA and for NYCTV where her segments have appeared on both NYCTV and NBC. Currently, Jasmine is the post-production director for all Sister Outsider film/video projects. She is also the Project Manager for JOTARIA, a LBGTQI multi-media project that combines film, music and theater.
