Bio

My known alias is Steven Weatherfield Thompson. Currently working in Television Post Production at Channel 13 WNET (PBS) in NYC. I majored in Media Studies at Hunter College (CUNY), which combined elements of video production, film/tv analysis and theory courses. I am an aspiring documentary film maker, writer, and musician. I am currently working on a short documentary piece in Bluefields Nicaragua that I'll begin shooting in the first week of September. Although I love any opportunity that allows me to work in real life environments helping real people share their stores, I also have a passion for fictional film and tv. For this reason, I would also love to start writing short fictional skits or scripts. I very much am a critical and active viewer, who tends to gravitate towards edgy Indie films; rather than Hollywood popcorn flicks. I think these types of films, more often than not, better represent the types of people we find in our everyday lives, and better represent the world around us. Finding something I can relate too in a character tends to grab my attention much more than big explosions or fancy tricks. I'd love to meet other people interested in working on grassroots, D.I.Y. style documentary productions, and other people interested in writing. And of course people who enjoy and active forum of discussion about independent film, art, and music!
