Since he finished my MFA degree in Film and TV Directing in 1997 at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ivaylo Simidchiev has continuously been working as a filmmaker for over a decade now. His employment history spans several countries such as Bulgaria, Finland, the USA and Canada, covering activities both in the film industry and the educational fields. His filmography varies from narrative shorts, to short and feature-length documentaries, to TV documentary and fiction projects, to feature-length screenplays and theatrical plays, to theatrical staging. His experience encompasses principal creative involvement in these projects through directing, writing, producing, editing, and cinematography. Ivaylo's constant intense practicing in film production has kept him up-to-date with most innovative technologies and has earned him recognition as a professional authority on film. His works have been invited and showcased at countless renowned film forums on four continents; they have won a sustained international acclaim at numerous professional venues across the globe - including Cannes Film Festival's official selection - and have consequently been crowned with multiple awards. Currently he teaches film production and film studies at the Art Institute of Washington (DC).
