Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Ms. Wortham took the long way round to New York City. After an eye-opening and intensive apprenticeship at Actors Theatre of Louisville, she decided to pursue a life in the theatre. Her journey has taken her to South Carolina, then back to Kentucky as an actor/teaching artist with the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival and eventually to graduate school at Brown University. At Brown she nurtured and expanded her love of collaborating on new plays with the up and coming playwrights of the University under Paula Vogel's leadership.

After graduating, moving to New York City and securing an agent, Jessica has had the great fortune to work off-Broadway, regionally and internationally as a performer, as well as teaching Shakespeare as a visiting professor at a private liberal arts college. She continues to pursue opportunities to work on new plays by participating in many readings of new work around the city and looks forward to bringing her talents to the screen. Jessica has been told she reminds people of a taller Holly Hunter, a younger Jessica Lange, a "prettier" Tracey Ullman, and most recently (when she dyed her hair dark for WALK THE LINE) Reese Witherspoon, but takes it all with a grain of salt and secretly wishes there was a little Madeline Kahn thrown in there somewhere.
