Connections (1)
Award-winning filmmaker, JWJ Ferguson, has worked on over fifty films. He is an accomplished cinematographer and, over the past decade, he has written and directed numerous short films. He is currently in development of a feature script written with his father, acclaimed novelist, James W. Ferguson.
JWJ Ferguson spent his childhood in both Belgium and Connecticut. He was exposed to cultural differences and divergent perceptions at an early age. It is this, he believes, that provoked not only his career as a filmmaker, but also his study of philosophy – disciplines which, to him, are inextricably linked.
Mr. Ferguson, with his company SvetShop, made Wingbuilder, the contest-winning music video for Pearl Jam’s Gone commissioned by RCA and J Records. He also co-created The Zeppelin Parable, a 35mm short film based on the story by NY Times best selling author Jonathan Lethem. (Which, in 2008: premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival; won top prize at the New Orleans Film Festival; won Best Drama at the Big Easy Film Festival; and won an Accolade Award).
Mr. Ferguson has taught courses in film production and he has curated film series at museums and film festivals and has spoken on various film panels including for the State of Louisiana. Mr. Ferguson has also served as a juror to film festivals and as a panelist for the Louisiana Endowment of the Humanities.
His most recent film, Mon Rêve Familier, premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival in April, 2009. Subsequently it has played at the Cannes Short Film Corner and is scheduled to show at the Salento International Film Festival in September. It will continue to circulate the festival circuit throughout the end of the year.
