Bio

Matt Stemmley was born March 9, 1989 in Alton, Illinois. He started his path of filmmaking in his hometown of Bethalto, IL in late 2005 when he and his friends were experimenting with cameras and editing tools. He began his first film titled "The Ballistics" January 16, 2006 and has continued his filmmaking career since then to shoot such films as "Ethanol: The Hidden Panacea" and "The Door", which were submitted to the Student Films Across America Film Festival in 2007. He has worked on a number of local films and has recently completed shooting his own feature film "Jealousy", which debuted January 12, 2008. He is currently enrolled in the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and will be transferring to Columbia College Chicago's film program next year where he will go on to major in cinematography. After college he hopes to continue following his dream of being a cinematographer.
