Bio

Michael W. Hyde is an actor, performance poet, singer/songwriter, guitar player, and all around nice guy. He spent the first half of his life in and around Springfield, Missouri, where everyone knew your name whether you liked it or not. Upon attending high school with five hundred other people and graduating with 103 of them, he quickly decided the small-town life was not for him. The occasion did not arise for him to take action, however, until after a failed marriage (and acquiring, losing, and reaquiring a habit for coffee and cigarettes).

He then traveled to Hampton Roads, Virginia in 2001 - home of the CIA, twenty-two military bases and a million people trained to kill you. There he learned how to drink coffee and smoke cigarettes until three in the morning at seedy establishments, and was mentored by the inimitable performance poet Jeffrey Hewitt.

In May of 2008 he had tired of living amongst the trigger-happy, and decided it was time to live up to his lifelong dream of acting like a fool for money. So he packed his bags and made the journey to New York City, where nobody knew your name whether you wanted them to or not. Here the smog agreed with his pasty skin, and the landlords telling him not to live in the Bronx reminded him of nights spent in East Saint Louis. As it turned out, the inner city culture had no idea what it was like to grow up with every kid in school owning a rifle and using it regularly.

Michael now lives in New Jersey; in a small community that would much rather be annexed by the large state to the North and East; where the constituents drink espressos as if they were living in the heart of The Village; where the gangs are much like the jokes he used to tell about Arkansasans; but where the buses make regular trips to The City - and somehow it all evens out.
