As long as he could remember, Jim Evans had a deep-rooted interest in the arts, particularly film. Being an architect, he began to see the similarities between both filmmaking and architecture. Designing and constructing a building with great precision is how he views filmmaking; taking a raw idea and creating a great piece of art from the ground up.

With a passion for filmmaking, he decided to attend NYU’s SCPS film program, where he wrote and shot a short that screened in both the Long Island International Film Festival and the Westchester County Film Festival.

Upon completing the program at NYU, he continued his film education by taking additional filmmaking courses and seminars, such as the Gotham Writers Workshop and the Robert McKee seminars. In addition, he worked in various capacities on several film projects, such as Penny Marshall’s “The Preachers Wife” and Martin Scorsese’s Oscar winner ‘The Departed”.

He served as the Program Director for the Westchester Film Group, where he organized networking and educational events, which included demonstrations from such companies as Sony and Lowel.

Longing to get back behind the camera, Jim recently acquired the rights to a published short story entitled “Some Jobs Are Simple”. Utilizing his creative and logistical skills, as well as a few guerilla style filmmaking techniques, he created an engaging short film that he is now looking to submit to the festival circuit. Jim is already looking forward to his next project.

Jim is a registered architect, who currently works in the field of retail architecture and construction, and he continues to pursue his interest in filmmaking. He currently resides in Westchester County, New York.
