Founded in May 2009, Empathos Productions is based in a small city called Cumberland in Western Maryland, USA and serves mostly Allegany and Garrett Counties. I saw a need for quality video for low prices in my area, so I decided to start my own business. We are not an "official" business yet but I will be filing in a year or so as a real business. For now I am a self-employed freelancer.
Right now our company has just one employee, me, Rachel Roberts. I do just about everything. I shoot, edit, write, direct, produce, create my own music for my productions, and much more.
My strengths are Cinematography and Writing. I seem to have an eye for aesthetics, and an ear for music and sound overall. Any bad sound in my productions right now is due to a lack of equipment or having to borrow heavily used equipment from the university. Again, I am very new to this so I am still in the process of getting all the equipment I need, but I have a good start. See below.
I''ve been making films since I was about seven years old and I''ve been writing for longer than that. I absolutely love what I do and I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my work.
Since graduating in May 2009 I have completed one project and I am working on three others at this time.I have a Bachelor of Science from Frostburg State University, where I double majored in Mass Communication - Audio/Video and English - Creative Writing.For my internship/practicum I was...many things...for FSU-TV3''s sustainability show "Down to Earth", which was called, "Going Green With Dr. G" until I became the producer. I thought the title was too long so I changed it and it has stuck in the season following.
I have written a lot but I have not published anything yet. Again, I''m a bit of a perfectionist. A paper of mine on the naming industry (how businesses name their products) was selected to be read at one of the English Colloquiums at my university.
Summary, I do all kinds of stuff to the best of my abilities.
