Robert Slane is currently under contract to write an original comedy screenplay for Mandalay Pictures which is scheduled to be completed in spring 2010.

Robert is completing an original suspense horror script with Scott Glosserman (Truth Below) attached. The script will be sent to studios and production companies in spring 2010.

In March 2008, Rob’s screenplay biopic, Henson, a story about Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets was sold to Empire Film Group.

Rob wrote the feature motion picture Come Away Home, which stars the incomparable Paul Dooley (Sixteen Candles, Runaway Bride) and twelve-year-old Jordan-Claire Green (School of Rock) and co-stars Lea Thompson, Martin Mull, Thomas Gibson and David Keith. Through American Family Movies, Come Away Home was released into theaters in May 2005.

Come Away Home was awarded Best Motion Picture Drama at the International Family Film Festival and garnered a Young Artist Award nomination for JC Green. It was called a “Prime example of the storyteller’s art” by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and a “Southern fried On Golden Pond” by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The film made its television debut on Starz! network in February 2008.

Rob wrote and directed the 35mm comedy short film, The Fine Line Between Cute & Creepy. In December 2004, Cute & Creepy was one of only five short films to air as part of the Independent Television Service’s Emmy-nominated Independent Lens series, broadcasted on PBS stations nationwide. The series was hosted by Academy Award winning actress, Susan Sarandon.

The Fine Line Between Cute & Creepy was presented with the Audience Award for Best Short at the Montreal “Just for Laughs” Comedy Festival and the Rhode Island International Film Festival; “Best of the Fest” at the Rochester International Film Festival and the Silver Award for Best Comedy Short at WorldFest Houston. Cute & Creepy was acquired for worldwide distribution by Apollo Cinema and has since been sold to territories in the United States, Italy, France and Japan.

Rob grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Finance in 1996. After graduating, Rob worked for three years at Mitchell Madison Group, a management consulting firm in New York City. In June 2001, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in screenwriting.
