Dan Halsted (born July 12, 1962) is an American film producer and manager.
Halsted's career has encompassed all aspects of the Hollywood business, from running a major Hollywood studio[1] to producing both successful blockbusters and critical independent hits[2], to starting one of the top five talent agencies[3]. In 2004, after 25 years in the industry, Halsted incorporated his diverse experience and expertise into his own company, MANAGE-MENT.
Career
Halsted began his career as an assistant to Scott Rudin before becoming an agent at United Talent Agency. At United Talent Agency, he directed his propensity for packaging projects into a diverse roster of both critical and commercial successes, such as There's Something about Mary, New Jack City, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Robocop, and The Untouchables. Later as executive VP at Hollywood Pictures, working with Michael Eisner, Halsted was involved with guiding the development of The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, Tombstone, Evita, Mr Holland’s Opus, Encino Man, Son in Law and While You Were Sleeping.
In partnership with Oscar winning filmmaker Oliver Stone, Halsted produced projects such as Nixon, U Turn, and Any Given Sunday. On his own he found commercial and critical success as a producer for S.W.A.T., The Virgin Suicides and Garden State, which became an indie film sensation and whose soundtrack went platinum. His TV work includes; The Day Nixon was Shot, Witchblade and Sofia Coppola’s TV debut Platinum. In June 2008, Halsted was the executive producer on Comedy Gumbo, a web series on Crackle.[4]
MANAGE-MENT
In 2004, Halsted incorporated his diverse experience and expertise into his own company, MANAGE-MENT. MANAGE-MENT is a company that integrates talent management, development, production, and financing. Recent projects include films such as Michael Clayton (nominated for seven Academy Awards this year), Namesake and Crips and Bloods: Made in America (recently selected for the Sundance Film Festival – Halsted’s fifth film at Sundance)[5] and TV shows such as Mad Men (winner of 2008 Golden Globe and Emmy Award), Arrested Development, Weeds, Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad, The L-Word, and Flight of the Conchords. - Each multiple Golden Globe and Emmy winners. MANAGE-MENT handles a roster of over 30 of the leading writers, directors and actors in the film industry. [6]
