  • Bio

    A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Ben has worked with film and video for over 10 years. He has worked as grip, gaffer, writer, producer, cinematographer, and director. He is employed as the Facilities Coordinator for LexArts at the Downtown Arts Center, a non-profit performance theater and art gallery in Lexington.

  • Interests and Activities

    In 2005 he formed Torn and Restored Films, and created the short, Terror Eyes, a surrealist horror film that was scored by David Lynch alumni, Kinny Landrum. He has since directed experimental narrative The Writer and an untitled documentary on Guerrilla Gardening, among several other short form projects.

    Ben is the founder of the Central Kentucky Cinema Society, a non-profit entity dedicated to promoting the media arts in Central Kentucky. The CKCS arranges dynamic screenings and installations for local and international artists in the Lexington area, as well as providing workshops and production experience to filmmakers in the area.

  • Favorite TV Shows

    In 2007, Ben achieved a certificate in filmmaking from the inaugural Bluegrass Community and Technical College "Script to Screen" program. He has also volunteered his services to KET, Wood songs Old Time Radio Hour, Troubadour Concert Series, Micro Filmmaker Magazine, and the Kentucky Film Lab.

  • Favorite Books

    For nearly a decade, he has operated as a freelance videographer. Ben Burke Productions is geared towards provided media services to the performing arts. Recently, he served as cinematographer on a multi-media staging of Hamlet, a modern take on the Shakespearian classic involving projected images, or "live movies".

  • Favorite Music

    Ben has worked with a wide variety of both local and national production companies; Including Actors Guild of Lexington, Multimedia Performance Studios, Eugene Records, Surprise Theater, the Carnegie Center, Miss Kentucky Scholarship Pageant, and the Balagula Theater, among others.
