Ethnic Sands

Instead of a standard synopsis I think character descriptions would work better

Five Russian immigrants working at a ski shop in New Jersey (must speak fluent Russian)

Vanya (Narrator): Thick Russian accent when speaking in English. Manager of the ski shop. Most practical of the five.

Demos: Exiled Son of a Russian mobster, studied at the London School of Economics before fleeing to the U.S. Speaks English with an East-London accent.
Wicked Sarcastic/intelligent sense of humor.

Ilya: Speaks English with a general New York accent. Ilya is a wise ass and a womanizer. He's a card-sharp indebted to bookies on three different continents. Ilya's antics are often what gets the group into trouble.

Alosha: Passive, Mormon guy adopted by a Mormon family at the age of four from Kiev Ukraine. Excellent skier. The group (especially Demos) rags on him for his religion. He is a few months away from moving to Utah to go to grad school.
Alosha speaks standard American English.

Misha: Ex-Member of the Burton Global snowboard team. Misha is silent for the most part except for his occasional and random outbirsts of brilliance. He is from a conservative family from Georgia whose only ticket out of the Caucus was his insane snowboarding ability. Misha blew his chance on the global tour when he tore his A.C.L and got addicted to cocaine. For the most part his lines are in subtitled Russian although he does speak broken English sometimes.

Mobsters:

Jimmy D'Alissandro: Italian American fellow and member of New Jersey's famed LCN. The D'Alissandro crime family launders money and deals large quantities of cocaine to Restaurants in New Jersey so that he can "bring the glory of maffia life to the big screne". Jimmy kills two men on camera because they were supposed to secure distribution for his film

Geno 'Knuckles': Jimmy D's Right hand man/ thrill seeking hitman.

Nathan Buckler: Private Security Contractor. Role will go to the person who does the best impersonation of 'Dog the bounty hunter'. Buckler is a fundamentalist Christian and Violent sociopath who was pulled out of Iraq by his firm for Evangelizing. He has a few hilarious one liners and says "Bro." before and after everything he says.

Sylvester: Newark weapons dealer/gay gangster hip hop mogul from Newark..

Ishmael: Sylvester's wondering nomad brother. He plays the Spanish guitar and is forced into participating in an armed robbery by his brother Sylvester.

Andreev Breshnev: Russian Mobster and weapons dealer. He deals old Soviet weapons from the Caucus mountains to Columbia. Breshnev (Demos' Father) is also a family man.

Nuri: Iraqi antique dealer. He fled Iraq after the invasion and stole a famous vase from the Baghdad national museum

Jim, Tim, and Michael: Work at a ski shop that rivals the five Russians. The three live vicariously through their jobs in the Ski department of 'The Sporting Goods Warehouse'. Jim is a ridiculous wankster who is convinced that he can be a successful drug dealer.

Demos' Grandmother: Ex-KGB agent and assassin. She has an epiphany that what her son Andreev is doing is wrong and she decides that she isn't going to let her kin participate anymore. She accomplishes this by killing everyone who does, her threat is what brought Demos from London to the U.S. Speaks mostly Russian, some broken English.

Rhalid: Indian dude, street vender who sells mostly phony merchandise. He angers Jimmy D'Alissandro by selling him a phony Persian rug.

Gerald/Archibald: Andreev Breshnev's New York associates who pick up Breshnev's vase in Brooklyn for him
