Catholic High School Musical
A gay musical theatre geek is stripped of the part of Jesus Christ in his annual high school musical, and plots his resurrection.
Farm House, an update of Animal House, is based on the real national fraternity called Farm House and its small town men with big dreams. (see: farmhouse.org)
Farm House follows Crosby Wilton's initiation into college life, big-ger city living and the red state-blue state and interfraternity warfare of life at a Midwestern state university.
After losing his high school sweetheart when she realizes he's not the Big Man On Campus he aspired to be and his fraternity is more or less the laughing stock of campus, Crosby motivates his slacker agricultural fraternity brothers to help him win the title of Homecoming King, and his ex-girlfriend back through a series of Homecoming competitions- with plenty of rodeos, muddin' and possum huntin' along the way.
I first encountered Farm House as an undergrad at the University of Missouri, which is most famous for inventing the tradition we all know and celebrated in high school known as Homecoming as well as producing famous alumni such as Brad Pitt, Sheryl Crow, Sam Walton of Wal-Mart...and Kenneth Lay of Enron. I always knew there was something special about the people I met at Missouri, and in Farm House, and I believe it's time their stories were told.
As Tim McGraw once said, "You can have a lot of fun in a New York minute, But there's some things you can't do inside those city limits, Ain't no closing time, Ain't no cover charge, Just country boys and girls gettin' down on the farm"
Homecoming Competition Categories include: Philanthropy, Sports, Skits, House Decorations, Parade Float.

Erica H I'm still trying to figure out where the comedy in this script is. The tag line had me somewhat interested, but then the synopsis lost my interest and then the script really put me over the edge. I think, with a different scene selection from the script it would have made a difference. However, they are looking for a comedy film concept and I didn't find anything funny about any of the characters, they seem to all be just stereotypes of what northern people think southern people are like and they just come off as annoying... especially Sue.
March 19, 2010Most importantly, I don't want to see him get back together with Pam. If this is who he is, and she doesn't think he's good enough for her, why would I invest 90 minutes of my time watching him attempt to win her back?
M. Lee I think it's pretty clever and Ellen has an ear for comedy. I would just encourage her to make sure she's being true to her own voice and avoiding cliche.
March 16, 2010William Stephens Yep, not funny... and that little "Let's GIT 'R DONE, Lionsgate!" thing was kinda lame.
March 16, 2010Josh McKenzie Just wasn't all that funny... sorry. :(
March 16, 2010J. Alex Boyd I LOVE that you fit a boy named Sue reference into it. It's a bit obvious in the script, but in a movie I think it'll be a nice bit of subtle humor. Sadly it is immediately countered by him saying "Get arrrrr done", which, unless you happen to be Larry the Cable Guy (And I hope you are not), will just make everybody confused. I get that the character would like Larry, and that's paying attention to your location and your character, but such a reference will seem sorta....silly to an audience. Almost like you're stealing. No matter.
March 9, 2010Other than that you seem to focus a lot of "This is funny because Hicks are stupid", which has been done before. You're aiming at stationary targets. You do okay stuff with it, though. I like the closing line, even if it's a bit simple.
In conclusion, it doesn't seem unfunny, and you seem to have a good hold of your characters. Does it go anywhere? Who knows, you certainly don't seem to.
Jeff Cantrell I feel like the fraternity thing is a little overdone...

Jacoub Marley uh, the first spoken line is "I want to ask you something..." but then he never asks her anything. WTF.
March 9, 2010J. Alex Boyd I think he's out to ask her to marry him.
