Jared will stop at nothing to make it to his date with Caydee, even if one of his best friends sexcapades causes him to be held hostage by a disgruntled husband
After being bed-ridden with the flu, Mike has already missed a week of work and his mothers birthday.
On the way to give his mother her gift, Mike makes a quick stop at a local coffee shop for a much needed pick-me-up. As he's waiting in line, a breaking-news report about a man called the "Relámpago Bandit" aka "Lightning Bandit", comes over the coffee shop TV. The report goes on about the criminal's recent involvement in several local bank robberies, one of which resulted in the shooting of a police officer. On the screen, pops-up a surveillance shot of the criminal. Suddenly, Mike realizes everyone in the shop's attention is fixated on him.
"The Bandit" looks EXACTLY like Mike.
High-tailing it outta there, Mike heads back to the only safe place he knows, his apartment. Unfortunately for him, even his landlord thinks he’s “The Bandit” and has tipped him off to the police.
Slipping out a back entrance, Mike’s journey to clear his name begins...
Along the way, Mike unwillingly teams-up with the only person in the city that knows the truth, an ex-con named Ian, who has links(and a personal score to settle) with the real Bandit.
So with half the city and police force after them, the unlikely pair must put their differences aside and work together to solve their common problem of needing to find the infamous “Relámpago”.
Will Mike get his identity back?
Will Ian get his revenge for 6 years lost to Relámpago's treachery?
...and most importantly, will Mom ever get her birthday present?

William Stephens GOOD LUCK, it's almost over! :-)
March 8, 2010Laura Gomez Your synopsis makes me want to know what will happen next and my guess is that other people feel the same, so you definitely have a chance. I liked that the distinguishing feature between the bandit and mike was a scar obtained in a funny situation rather than a tattoo or something more common. It may be appropriate for a flashback, although maybe too graphic. I agree with the comments below though, that within your sample there is too little comedy and in the end comedy is what the competition is about.

Robin Oliver Fabulous idea! But, I really don't like the title, sorry :( Shouldn't it simply be The Lighting Bandit? And, I really do hope Mom gets her present in the end that would tie everything up with a nice bow ;)
February 14, 2010Cody Snyder Hello Robin!
February 14, 2010I did give it some thought, just making it something simple like that.
I wanted the title to capture that moment of shock/confusion when his friends and family first watch the breaking news. It's a reaction thing, IS THAT MIKE?!
I hope I cleared it up a bit.
Thanks!

GianCarlo Fernandez Great stuff, the synopsis one me over the pages could have been funnier but it was a cool set up nonetheless. Good Luck, this would make a really good "buddy" movie.
February 12, 2010Jessica Lawson Sounds like this one would make a good feature film! Seems like you've got some great ideas, keep up the excellent work! Best of luck to you!
February 11, 2010Cody Snyder You know I appreciate it! ;)
