A trip to the ice machine turns into a fantastic adventure for two young sisters.

A young woman prepares for the sale of her childhood home following the death of her father. As she is packing and cleaning up the house, she discovers a bathroom mirror through which she is able to view scenes that have taken place in the same room nearly twenty years prior. Details of her past and present are revealed in a subtle, engaging sequence of events that culminate with an inversion of our common understanding of human memory and linear time.

The magic mirror functions like the two-way mirrors that are used in police interrogations and focus group studies. There is a darkened room on one side and a well-lit room on the other, from the darkened side the glass appears transparent but from the lit side, it appears reflective, like an ordinary mirror. This serves as a visual and spatial metaphor that compares the act of looking to the act of remembering, since it is possible to look back into the past through memory, but seemingly impossible to look forward into the future.

"Looking Glass" is a script that refers to the elusive, ephemeral ideal of the suburban American nuclear family and the ability of film and photography to preserve fleeting moments in time. The classic fairy tale motif of the magic mirror is presented here in an extremely naturalistic, contemporary context, and my intention as a director would be to maintain this style through the use of subjective camerawork, location shooting, heavy improvisation and a mix of professional and nonprofessional actors.

Killer Production Team James Sehring COOL pitch video, really well written script AND a forthright synopsis full of useful exposition. You've taken full advantage of Massify's tools to create a very well developed pitch. nice work!

Dimitri LaBarge Enjoyed the pitch video very much. Fun to see someone else around experimenting with aged textures and kind of an oblique approach to their script's theme.
