JAKE lives a simple life in a simple town in the outskirts of southwest Texas. He works at a local donut shop and is depressed about the monotony of his life. He comes home after a long day of work to find his brother, THOM, bleeding to death from a gunshot wound on his bed.Thom is barely coherent and swings in out and of conciseness, but he is able to put together a few last words that resonate with Jake.
"I'm not your brother"
Before able to ask questions, Thom passes away in Jake's hands. Frantic and not sure what to do, Jake scrambles for clues in the house. He finds a gun and a briefcase, both apparently belonging to Thom, and jets out of the house into his car.
Jake, now trying to comprehend the severity of the situation, becomes extremely frantic and nervous. He begins to hallucinate. He pulls over at a local bar and asks for a glass of water.
In the corner of the bar is a man, O. His identity is distorted from the POV of Jake, pixelated as if watching him through a TV. He tells Jake that he has hacked into his mind and has valuable information about his identity. He identifies someone to contact, his mother, who Jake had always assumed was dead.
This unseen presence, O, is playing the cards in Jake's story, controlling the events as he sees fit. He is the leader of the shadow organization that is conducting an experiment on Jake. Instead of sending him to his mother, he manipulates Jake into meeting the killer of his brother, Nigel, a crazed Casino Owner. Using him as a pawn to clean up a mess, Jake follows the clues to fulfill O's plan.
But before Jake can kill Nigel, he reveals the secret answer to Jake's terrible truth. He is part of an experiment conducted by a shadow organization. He is a clone in a long line of clone experiments. Jake doesn't believe it could be true. Nigel, desperate to save his own life, points him to a spot where he can find the proof.
In the desert, in the middle of nowhere, Jake and Nigel journey to the very spot where the countless others are buried. There Jake will confront O one last time and understand the sad nature and fate of his existence.
