Looking Glass
While cleaning out her childhood home, a young woman discovers a two-way mirror through time.
Paper Dolls is a story that presents a hotel from a child’s perspective as a fantasy world away from home. On their way to the ice machine, two young girls encounter people, places, and things that grow increasingly exciting, frightening, and magical. The story is told with virtually no dialogue and it would be my goal to use the costumes and artwork to echo and compliment the unique aesthetic of the Ace Hotel, with a mixture of vintage, modern, and nature-inspired elements. Other visual and thematic references include the art of Shary Boyle and Henry Darger and the film Daisies (1966) by Vera Chytilová.

Maria Manghi When I saw the pitch video I thought they were proposing to use animated "cut out" photograph with a deliberately unpolished movements. THAT is a GREAT idea. If the whole thing could be redesigned to use animation instead of live action, this could make a cool short film.
