Arroz con Diablo
Cano hinges his dreams of wine, women and riches on the scrapping prowess of his prize-fighting cock - Diablo. Meanwhile, his scorned wife cooks up her revenge.
SHORT SUMMARY:
Dave is a cutthroat litigation lawyer with big dreams of making partner and raking in the millions. His plan takes a 180 degree turn when he accidentally kills his best friend Sam, -- a bleeding heart, liberal psychologist -- and he's forced by Sam's ghost to make good on the promises made by Sam to his patients.
Is Dave really seeing Sam's ghost or is it just Dave's guilty conscious playing tricks on him?
LONG SUMMARY:
DAVE is a successful young lawyer hell bent on becoming Brampt and Stachell’s youngest partner and raking in the millions. A brilliant legal strategist and smooth talker he takes great pleasure in ripping apart the opposition in court and impressing the ladies with his uptown swagger.
SAM, Dave's roommate and BFF since childhood, is Dave's complete opposite: A bleeding heart liberal psychologist that has committed his life to helping the less fortunate. Despite their opposite natures, they're inseparable, living as roommates even though either could easily afford to live alone.
All is well until, the morning Dave accidentally pours rat poison into Sam's coffee.
Dave is racked with guilt over Sam’s death and tries desperately to confess to Sam's parents, MARCIE (the randy next-door neighbor), and any one else that will listen. Finally accepting his circumstances, Dave returns to work and his life ruthlessly climbing the ladder of success, until Sam's ghost appears.
Sam appears to Dave in the shower. At work. In court. While Dave is trying to get laid....always with a singular mission: force Dave to help his patients. "You killed me, Dave. I'm dead and now you have to help me, help my patients."
Dave refuses, proclaiming Sam is just a figment of his guilty conscious. One after another, Sam forces Dave to help his patients...tricking him into it at every turn.
It’s not very long before Dave (due to Sam’s influence) lands in a mental hospital: Shady Brook a well-intentioned institution that happens to be targeted by Dave’s law firm in a legal battle to have it shut down.
While incarcerated by the hospital, Dave meets VERONICA, a nurse at Shady Brook who also happens to be one of Sam’s long-time patients and his unrequited love. Veronica is beautiful: Megan Fox with the heart of Mother Teresa and the crazy of Anne Heche.
Sam’s mission for Dave becomes clear: save Shady Brooke and in turn save Veronica. But when Dave starts to fall for Veronica, Sam spins off into a panic.

Mike Wech Love the line, "Im dead, I don't have a sexual identity. Other dialogue seems a bit on the nose at times, but overall things work really well. A dead buddy comedy is a unique spin on the genre and I applaud that originality. The synopsis could use a little more description. There's so much opportunity for comedy with Sam's patients, drawing a little bit of that out and tying together all of the nuances in the script could make this really shine.
