It orginally started as a comic book back in 1993, since then it has evolved into something bigger! Realizing, comics only kept the characters in a box, I recently discovered animation would best suit the concept and let the 'Pork & Beanz' universe breathe. I wanted to bring back the style of iconic franchises I grew up with in the 1980s such as THUNDERCATS, TRANSFORMERS, GI JOE, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, HE-MAN,
STAR WARS, etc...
I also was aiming towards an older audience, introducing some light humor to guide us through P&B's adventures. Not over the top humor, but subtle comedic themes most viewers would be comfortable with.
Syfy, Nikleodeon, MTV, Cartoon Network, Spike, USA, even Showtime or HBO are stations I would love to talk to.
The main concept revolves around the misadventures of a 'man-pig' species (a Porcine) and an actual mutated bean. Pork Slater and Beanz Vega are cargo runners locked into a shipping contract that they cannot get out of unless they find some pour schmo to sign it over to. Their company, M.S.L. (Marsh Shipping Lanes) is owned by crime boss Louie Spinelli. Most cargo industries are owned by crimelords. If a runner breaks his contract, Spinelli does some breaking of his own.
PORK is an ex-spice pirate who wishes to just take things easy, but now finds himself continuoulsy delivering illegal shipment, which is why he originally left the pirate life in the first place. BEANZ is a science experiment Pork stumbles onto while delivering a shipment to a dark labratory. He is a fusion of different body parts from different spiecies taken from all over the galaxy and connected to a mutated head....a bean! Feeling guilty, Pork helps Beanz escape and the rest is history...
Our episodes would mainly center around the strangely symbiotic relationship between the more disciplined Pork and the looser cannoned Beanz. Knowing few moments of peace, the pair somehow manage to stay one step ahead of disaster....then trip. There is a whole lot of trouble to be had and it's a good bet Pork & Beanz are smack in the middle of it. With the uncanny ability to make a situation worse, Beanz somehow forces the semi-respectable Pork into being stuck with the most harrowing and ugliest of jobs.
No time frame, we simply know it's set sometime in the future in a galaxy uknown to ours. The word 'alien' has no real meaning. Earth exists but is very far away and very, very boring. There is a vast population on most systems and most live an uneasy co-existance. There is peace is most places, but all out war and territorial domination in others. In most remote systems there is a lot of every-species-for-it-self and it is rare to find someone without a weapon of some sort.
There are two kinds of law enforcement. The first comes in the form of planets and races whose power is so great, they have the military and economical means to defend themselves with multiple armies. The other comes in the form of companies such as GALAPOL (The Galactic Police, GP). The GP are funded by most top companies and corperate giants. The GP is heavily payed off most of the time by crimelords.
In between all this are egotiistical bounty hunters, creatures of all sorts and even a hot princess sruggling to keep galactic peace relevant.
PORK & BEANZ has potential to be a striking franchise in the film, television or even video gaming industries (Toy lines, video games, movies, cartoons...etc...) and the title alone could also be a valuable asset to catch people's attention. Original and memorable. And Pork and Beanz themselves work extremely well off each other. Think Abbot and Costello meet Han Solo and Chewbacca.
This could be a sleeping giant!
