Black Dusk

(A bit of Re-Animator mixed in with a whole lot of zombies)...
We open with the last scene of Part VIII. Redeye's head is hacked off. Next, we see Boris the sword swallower putting Redeye's decapitated head in an old chest with a lock. He locks it and begins his journey across Redrock to find a place to bury it where no one will know of its existence...
Boris sees the sun has set and he grows anxious. Suddenly, zombies start to appear out of nowhere. One by one, they start to attack Boris who is fending them off the best he can before he realizes, it's no use. Boris can't figure out why the dead have resurrected and as a few zombies attack Boris, he can see the chest is glowing from inside. Boris lunges for the chest. He manages to get it open and to his horror, Redeye's eyes are bright with the fierce red glow of old and it looks like Redeye hasn't been defeated at all. The sight of Redeye's living head is the last thing Boris sees as he screams his last scream. Zombies, mounds of them, surround him...a shot of Redeye's head, eyes glowing. The chest being left behind for anyone to find...
REDROCK MASSACRE IX: NIGHT OF THE UNDEAD...
A group of kids show up just outside Redrock and set up camp. They have a huge camper and decided to camp out under the stars in the middle of nowhere for a couple of nights...
The day they get there, two of them take a hike and explore. They eventually find the old chest containing Redeye's head. When they look inside, it alarms them and they think it could be some sort of an important find.
Excited, thinking they found something cool, they bring it back to camp...big mistake...
Sunset comes, Redeye does his thing and the dead begin to one by one show up at the kid's camp sight. There is some classic zombie scenes and the kids eventually get trapped in their camper. They start it up as it gets swayed back and forth by the dead. They ram a bunch over and escape out onto the road...
The kids have not yet noticed it's because of Redeye. The chest has been shut the whole time. As they are driving, just before passing downtown Redrock, Redeye summons a barrier of dead and the driver of the camper sees this, swerves and loses control. The camper splats into the wall of zombies and they crash into the old Redrock gas station from part 1 (Joe's). ..
We see a bystander, getting out of a truck with a shotgun. He sees the crash and he starts to approach the zombies, taking them out with his shotgun. He gets to the kids, one of them gets eaten, but saves the rest by getting them into the old gas station's store (from part 1). They barricade it...
We find out the stranger, Devon, was just coming to Redrock to find his older brother Gus, who he's lost contact with. He's heard the stories and knows all about Redrock and the Redeye legend...He didn't expect to come here finding this...
Zombies have surrounded the store and Devon is told about the head they found. He is surprised at it and tells them that is exactly why shit hit the fan. Devon tells the remaining kids they have to somehow find a way to get Redeye's head back to his grave...Hopefully it will stop things...
There is a mad dash to Devon's truck, then to Redrock Cemetery where they fend off zombies the entire time. They make it to the crypt and Redeye's grave. Just as they are about to be overcome with zombies, the head is placed back and everything comes to a hault. The dead fall and it seems it is over...
They all walk out of the crypt, crickets chirping. They look at the moon and sigh a breath of relief. Then they hear something and suddenly, the crickets stop. Something is wrong. We then hear heavy breathing and heavy stomping from behind. Suddenly, all the torches one by one light up and we see Devon and the one surviving kid turn around...We see, in the shadows, a familiar, huge shadow, red glowing eyes...then they scream, a hatchet swoop...
Blackout...

Mark Nunziati Thank you! This one will be based around being more of a zombie flick, setting up the old formula for the next chapter......In DEAD MOON, I almost had a vampire come to Redrock to use it as his hideout but I thought wolf vs. indian made more sense, in a historic sense...I just wanted some sort of battle between two supernatural giants and I think it could be one heck of a battle... :)
August 28, 2008Austin Hinderliter I like this A LOT better than the wolf entry. It sounds like part 9 has a lot to do with zombies. But, it seems to have returned to the basics. It sounds like a bloody good time.
August 28, 2008Mark Nunziati RM9 is up... :)
August 28, 2008Mark Nunziati I'm glad you like Parts I-IV the best cause' so do I. I just felt V-VIII needed a little more 'Umph' to the characters and settings. I didn't want it to just be chapter after chapter of the same kids, same ranch, same running around, so on and so on, but sometimes, that's all you can do...I love to hear your input on this and an origin story was actually being thought of titling it REDROCK MASSACRE: ORIGINS. But this was an idea I had when I was figuring out Part 3 and I just never went through with it, although part 3 almost goes back, but not far enough, starting at the building of Redrock Ranch....There is a scene in the original REDROCK MASSACRE that I haven't gotten to yet in the script, where they meat Gus, an old American Indian local, who at one point, sits down Aaron, Brandie and Sarah to tell them about Redeye's origin deep inside a crypt somewhere in Redrock Cemetery (by candle light, ghost story feel)...(That crypt has a lot to do with continuing chapters...) During that storytelling to the kids, I was thinking there could be some flashbacks to what happened to Redeye...I suppose ORIGINS could delve deeper, but something solid would have to connect to Redeye's death in that chapter, it being the 1800s- maybe the cast out tribe member and the cowboys are the first victims of Chief Redeye and the only ones...until the Ranch is built and what happens in Part 3 disturbs Redeyes's slumber...I have a lot of thinking to do...we will soon find out...any more suggestions feel free to tell me... Oh, and RMX will be titled...

Austin Hinderliter I think it would be good to have this be a prequel to the series, and call it REDROCK MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING. Or perhaps REDROCK MASSACRE: THE ORIGIN. And in it explain where Redeye originated from, before he was killed. And show the brutal events that leads to the madness and mayhem that follows. The original Redrocks are still my favorite, those being parts I-IV. I think over the course of the recent sequels, the series has evolved away from the 'camp slashers,' and has been more supernatural (with the wolf) I would be interested in seeing this chapter returning to the basics, and ignoring the recent entries. Such as what happened with the Friday the 13th series. But, I do find these to be bloody, fun, and entertaining! I'd eventually like to hear a "Beginning" story though.
