Everything’s always come easy to CHRIS, a college student living off campus in a house owned by a little old woman, NINA – dear friend of Chris’s long lost grandmother.
Chris and his team (SHAWN – Animal husbandry major and beer aficionado; TAMMY – Playboy looks with a streak of Goth, and the new member LES – nerdy computer wizard with a crush on Tammy) spend their free time as hired paranormal researchers. They explore ‘haunted’ houses to determine the extent of the infestation. They get paid based on the level of the haunting, so they often spruce up the data to ensure they make enough money to throw good parties.
Chris spots VALERIE, a gorgeous psych grad student, and follows her to a local karaoke bar. She ignores his advances, and he finds out she works for the real, hard-core Paranormal Research Investigation Company (PRIC) led by the evil DEVLIN. Devlin warns Chris not to get in his way and to forget about Valerie – she’s Devlin’s. Chris realizes Valerie thinks the paranormal research is childish, and to win her heart Chris opts to heed Devlin’s warning.
When Chris’s team insists they keep up their paranormal ‘research’ because they want the party money and because Shawn needs an ‘operation’, Chris agrees to just a few more missions.
Devlin’s inept sidekick and part time campus cop, WAYNE, plants a bug in Chris’s house. Using the info they collect, Devlin trumps Chris’s team; beating him to projects and making Chris look bad. Nina finally confronts Chris. She asks if he thinks his grandmother would approve of him letting Devlin walk all over the team.
Chris steps up and leads his team against Devlin’s crew. Both teams try to outwit each other, searching for ghosts and gremlins in haunted houses, a cemetery, even an old dairy farm.
Finally, Devlin challenges Chris and his team to the ultimate paranormal investigation contest: each team must explore the one facility no team dares go inside: the old, abandoned Bates Insane Asylum.
They meet at dusk, each team marching towards each other in front of the asylum gate. Devlin’s team is decked out in high-tech paranormal gear, dark wet suits with detectors and lights all over. Chris’s team is in their usual attire, jeans and sweatshirts, but they did bring their beer cooler.
Once inside they split up. What Chris and his team don’t know is that Devlin has booby trapped the facility with clever, insidious traps designed to scare Chris’s team and make them lose the challenge.
Unknown to everyone, a couple of Meth bubbas are watching both teams.
The traps Devlin set are challenging. Chris and his team barely survive them, while Devlin monitors Chris’s team with hidden video cameras.
Back at PRIC headquarters, Valerie discovers Devlin has set Chris up. She stops at the house to warn Chris, but he’s already gone. Nina joins Valerie as they head for the asylum to warn Chris.
Meanwhile Chris finds one of the TV cameras and realizes he’s been set up. He starts looking for Devlin. Devlin realizes Chris is onto him and tries to escape. Devlin falls into a trap, one he didn’t set.
When Valerie and Nina get to the asylum, they head downstairs where they’re captured by one of two brothers (a big dummy and a skinny evil dude) – the Meth bubba’s. They’re running a Meth lab out of the asylum and they can’t afford to let anyone find out.
Chris frees Devlin, and finds out Valerie and Nina are being held by the Meth bubbas. He and Devlin team up to free them, but soon part ways.
Devlin’s team is captured, and held along with Valerie and Nina.
Chris and his team plot their attack to free their friends. Their first plot backfires when Tammy and Shawn fall into one of the Bubbas’ traps. It’s up to Chris and Les to free their friends.
With Nina’s inside help, Chris and Les free everyone. Devlin has to beg Chris to convince the cops he isn’t with the Meth bubbas.
As Chris and his team leave in victory, a ghost appears behind one of the broken windows.

Ron Brassfield Nice to see you here, Joe. The "Semi-Paranormal" synopsis is rich in humorous possibilities which it seems you've though through well. It's truly "Hollywood" in the way you've structured the conflict. Love the wit inherent in the "PRIC" acronym and the "scamming contractors" angle makes it contemporary as well. The video was kind of funny, and the actors look promising, but I'd have preferred a "trailer style" if possible, even if a synopsis / "character profile" type of trailer, to you guys reading from notebooks. The banter was nice, though.

Derek Beck Hit enter before I was done...

This sounds like a fun comedy, with lots of laughs and should be a great popcorn flick. I hope Lionsgate gives it consideration!
