Someone Not You
Two drop dead gorgeous Bronx Latina twin sisters, decide to find their older sister a man.
“Someone Not You”
Two gorgeous women, one handsome man, things are about to get ugly.
Two-drop dead gorgeous Bronx Latina twin sisters, decide to find their older sister a man.
Twenty-two year old twins Angie and Elsie Martinez having been raised by their thirty six year old sister Carmen feel that she might have missed out on her opportunity to find Mr. Right, get married and have a family because after their Mother died unexpectedly Carmen spent all of her young adult life taking care of her sisters.
Enter William “Wish” Bone a thirty something Latin veterinary who looks like an underwear model. Will who is considered the “ultimate wingman” by his posse of friends, because he always attractive the ladies, decides after twenty odd years of one night stands to call it quits and find that one woman he can settle down with-
Both Will and Carmen (with the help her sisters) enter personal ads on the Internet without posting a picture hoping to find someone who will be attracted to their words and not their photos. They soon find each other and agree to meet later that week both wearing a red scarf.
The night they see each other for first time at the night club from across the crowded floor is magical; Carmen who was initially attracted by Will’s words finds herself breathless by his rugged good looks and Will is visibly shaken by Carmen’s own incredibly mature beauty. But before they can meet and utter a single word a woman from Will’s past kisses him passionately in front of Carmen destroying the moment.
Humiliated she flees the club, Will tries to stop her but once confronted, she can’t hide her scorn for a man whom she now sees as a player who preys on women.
The twins being something of players themselves and knowing about Carmen’s tragic history with dating really handsome men, see Will differently and are determined to get him together with their sister. They concoct wildly hilarious plans to get Will and Carmen in the same room to speak hoping that once they do nature will take its course.
When Will and Carmen finally unite with a lot of help from the twins they hit off and decide start dating.

DeMarcus Williams That is a good pitch. Be-careful with format issues. They are finicky about that.
April 6, 2010Christopher Joseph I can see this pitch - story is real and seems like you've heard of somebody somewhere going through it - just have to avoid the regular pitfalls of the screwball romantic comedies that fill the video store shelves and make your characters honest and caring - think have a good start!
March 16, 2010Susan B. Ades Awesome job on this pitch. I would like to see this produced. It tells a clear and concise synopsis of the story in a way that you can easily envision the scenes play out. Very funny. I like that it sounds like a bromance and a chick flick.
March 7, 2010Could the latin twins and Wishbone's posse become friends in the end? I can see them all hanging out in a bar for a drink and a laugh at the end...
Besides the typos (a pet peeve) it's a great pitch. Good luck!
Christopher Joseph hey susan -good review! maybe read mine - i'll read yours too - http://www.massify.com/partnerships/lionsgate/makingcomedy/concept/entry/someonenotyou
March 16, 2010Randy Gordon-Gatica This is a very sweet and funny concept. Everyone knows there are not nearly enough latino themed films. This is the type of independent movie that could succeed commercially. In a good way much of it reminds of the humor one saw in early Spike Lee movies. I like that it's sexy and honestly sexy in a real sort of bold way. Will is potentially an original character, kind of a reluctant stud to a degree. A tricky balancing act that might need a bit of balancing through revision. Where you might get dinged is, this might not be ideal for this, since the focus is guy comedies. No matter this could be the right piece to open doors. Good luck. I'd love to read the complete piece.
