The Three Horsemen
A group of aimless friends discover that they are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and must fight their destiny in order to save the world.
Less than a week left until the annual Harvest Festival in Megiddo, Iowa and everyone in the small town is getting ready--all except the town's aimless troublemakers, Josh, Danny & Ryan. The trio have wasted away their days without purpose or ambition and as they enter their 30s, they have nothing to show for their lives other than a menial job at the local superstore and Harvest Fest sponsor, All-Fresh.
While Molly--Ryan's far-too-forgiving girlfriend--does her best to bring the festival together as the it's director and organizer, the trio pull a childish prank at work that gets them in deep water with their strict boss and arch-nemesis, Alex. Alex calls them out everything they're doing wrong with their lives; Ryan is an OCD/germ freak, Josh is childlike and friendly to a fault, and Danny is a huge glutton.
After work, they blow off steam at the local bar where they meet a new bartender who's a little strange and Josh and Danny tease Ryan about not proposing to Molly even though they've been together since high school and he's had the ring for months. The strange bartender gives Ryan a flyer for his band but he stuffs it in his pocket without looking…
That flyer (one of the biblical “seals”) is the start of a life-altering journey for the trio; they will suddenly find themselves with the unique powers associated with the Horsemen of the Apocalypse—famine, pestilence and strife. (The fourth power, Death, belongs to the Fourth Horsemen, but they don’t know who that is yet.)
Convinced they are possessed, the trio searches for a church (none of them know where one is--none of them are at all religious) and find one in the middle of a service. The meet the Reverend and badger him until he helps them. He thinks they're insane but mentions the Horsemen of the Apocalypse and tells the trio about them.
The Reverend assures them that the Horsemen are allegories and not real people. Josh protests that he's Jewish and shouldn't that automatically disqualify him from Christian beliefs about the end of the world. They start to believe that they're the Horsemen but the Reverend tells them to get lost.
As the festival nears, the trio test their "powers" and are convinced that they actually are the Horsemen--Ryan is Pestilence, Josh is Strife, Danny is Famine--even though they don't want to be the Horsemen...three guys with no ambition are now supposed to bring about the end of the world. After trial and error they learn to control their "powers" and try to use them for good.
But soon, things start to go wrong and the things they love are pushed away; Ryan can't be close to Molly, Danny can't eat and Josh can't be himself--the nicest guy in the world.
The Reverend tells them that if this is their destiny, then there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. They protest; they don't want to destroy the world and is the epic battle between God and Satan really going to take place in Iowa?
The Reverend warns them that Death will bring with him Hades, a destructive monster of huge proportions, and that when the four horsemen are united, the Apocalypse will begin and the world as human’s now know it will end.
Over the days leading up to the festival, the trio discovers that Alex is the Fourth Horsemen and they must battle their destiny—and their boss as he leads Satan’s army—to discover who they really are to save the world and the people the love from death and destruction.
